What's new with Chomp

Over the last two years, Chomp has provided free healthy lunches and fun activities to a growing number of children and their families who struggle to eat well during the school holidays. As well as the obvious benefits of good food, parents, carers & children benefit from social interaction with others in an open and caring environment.

As austerity measures really start to take effect, many families are finding it harder to manage so this is a really exciting time for Chomp to be broadening it’s geographical reach and the number of clubs it runs.

Since February 2017 we have worked to expand the number of Chomp clubs across the city. By working in partnership with other churches, Community & Voluntary groups, statutory sector organisations and private companies, we now have Chomp clubs ready to roll in twelve locations in Summer 2017.

The holiday clubs operate at the following locations:

Benfield School, Portslade

Knoll Park, Hangleton & Knoll

West Blatchington School, West Blatchington

Fabrica Gallery, Central

Gloucester Place, Central

St. Francis of Assisi, Moulsecoomb

Salvation Army, Bevendean

Hollingdean Community Centre, Hollingdean

St, Mark’s School, Whitehawk

Any family on a low income or who has difficulty feeding their children are welcome to come along and meet with other families, enjoy a nutritious meal, join in sports activities or opt for quieter craft activities.

An exciting new development is our partnership with Children’s Centres: we have piloted year round Chomp at Centres in Tarner, Hollingdean and Hangleton. These clubs are for families with children aged 0-5 years old - again, we provide a nutritious meal, play activities and a chance for parents & carers to meet others with similar age children.

The sessions for the next school holidays will be listed on our Chomp's website or our facebook page,  or email chomp@onechurchbrighton.org for more information.

We are looking for volunteers to join in the fun! Are you good at games, crafts, cooking, or just like hanging out with kids and families? We would love to have your help. Please email us and we will get you connected.
