After School Project Support Worker

Job Type - Voluntary

Job Purpose – To provide support to young people during the after school project

Reporting to – Community Youth Worker – Fee DeFreitas

Working hours – Various sessions available: Tuesdays 3 - 6pm, Wednesdays 3 - 6pm, Fridays 12 - 1pm.

Length of Commitment – minimum 6 months to one session (due to nature of role)

Location- Gloucester Place or Fridays at Dorothy Stringer.



  1. Supporting young people with their homework/studies

    • Being able to offer subject support to young people aged 10-16

    • Motivate young people to engage in studying

  2. General supervision during Safehouse

    • Supervising an area/HUB activity

    • Ensuring that health and safety and the club ground rules are followed

    • Being available to listen to the young people and offer general advice and guidance

    • Engage the young people in positive conversations during dinner time

  1. New Skills Workshops

    • If you have a skill or talent and would like to deliver a one off workshop or series of sessions teaching the young people here a new activity. Please get in touch, this could be anything from cooking/baking sessions to piano lessons.


  • Ability to build a positive rapport with young people

  • Excellent verbal communication

  • Good subject knowledge in at least one curriculum subject up to a minimum of GCSE standard

  • Positive and energetic attitude, and strong desire to meet goals and commitments

  • Computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office

  • Understand and empathise with the One Church values

  • Gain experience in support work with young people
